Marco Reus has lavished praise on Borussia Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland after the in-form ace struck twice again in the derby win over Schalke.

Haaland, 20, ensured a spot in the headlines on Wednesday following his stunning Champions League brace against Sevilla and matched his tally at the weekend.

‘Erling is an absolute machine,’ he said. ‘He’s very hungry for goals. You see that in every game. We hope that he continues like this.

‘His positive energy on the pitch pushes all of us.’

With Dortmund leading after Jadon Sancho’s opening goal, Haaland wrestled back the spotlight with a jaw-dropping volley.

The two superstars have linked up to devastating effect often in the past, and it was Sancho again who teed up the frontman to take off in mid-air.

The acrobatic bicycle kick, unleashed sideways with plenty of power, left goalkeeper Michael Langer helpless.

Dortmund eased to only their second win in their last seven league games, leaving them still adrift of the Champions League spots, but the result was comprehensive.

Sancho’s effort made him the youngest player in the German top flight to score 35 goals, with Raphael Guerreiro and Haaland’s tap-in also delivering the damage.

Haaland saluted his partnership with Sancho after the game and admitted he is relishing performing alongside the highly-coveted forward.

He told Sport 1: ‘Me and Jadon we keep finding each other. It is a pleasure to play with this guy.’
