Rome are reportedly monitoring Olivier Giroud’s situation at Chelsea with a view to a move for the Frenchman as a replacement for Edin Dzeko.
Roma skipper Dzeko has fallen out-of-favour with manager Paulo Fonseca after a disagreement between the pair following the Coppa Italia defeat to Spezia on January 19.
The Bosnian now wants to reportedly leave the club but the prospect of a swap deal with Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz has collapsed after the former Lyon man rejected a move to the Italian capital, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The report details Roma are finding it difficult to find suitors for 34-year-old forward Dzeko.
Barcelona forward Martin Braithwaite is an alternative option up front for the Serie A side, who are currently third in the table.
The availability of Giroud, whose contract at Chelsea expires in the summer, is also unclear given Thomas Tuchel’s arrival this week as manager following the sacking of Frank Lampard.
Giroud has scored nine goals so far this season, including a memorable four-goal showing at Sevilla in the Champions League last month.

Dzeko, meanwhile, reportedly confronted Fonseca over the club’s decision to dismiss team manager Gianluca Gomber and it led to the forward being left out of the squad for the next fixture against the same opponents on Saturday.
‘I understand the curiosity you have, but I don’t want to say anything else,’ Fonseca said, when asked to comment on Dzeko’s position at the club after the 4-3 win on Saturday. .
‘I don’t want to say anything more. The important thing is what we did here today, a great victory for the team.’
