Barcelona have revealed that right back Sergi Roberto has recorded a positive coronavirus test in what spells a nightmare end to his year.
The Spanish giants confirmed the news on Wednesday afternoon following the latest round of testing, before revealing Roberto remains in ‘good health’.
A statement on the club’s website read: ‘After the PCR tests carried out on Tuesday, first team player Sergi Roberto has tested positive for Covid-19.

‘The player is in good health and is isolating at home following his recovery from the injury that occurred on November 21.’
The club has informed the relevant sports and health authorities, and all those who had contact with the player were tracked via further PCR tests.’
Ronald Koeman had already been without his defender after he injured his right thigh in the 1-0 defeat away at Atletico Madrid on November 21.
Roberto is set to be out of action for approximately two months after sustaining the injury at the Wanda Metropolitano.

The coronavirus diagnosis may now hinder his recover from injury while he is forced to stay away from Barcelona’s training facilities for the next couple of weeks.
In Roberto’s absence, new signing Sergino Dest is expected to continue at right back for Barcelona when they take on Ferencvaros away in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Barcelona are currently in the midst of an injury crisis in what has been a hugely underwhelming start to their season.
Barcelona, who sit seventh in LaLiga, are already without Gerard Pique, Ronald Araujo, Samuel Umtiti, Sergio Busquets and Ansu Fati through injury.
