- He retired from football three years ago but is clearly still a class operator
Three years might have passed since Francesco Totti last played for Roma, but the Italian has not lost his touch.
The 43-year-old, who retired in 2017, decided to dust his boots off and return to the pitch again recently, having started up his own eight-a-side team with friends and former team-mates.
Named after himself, the Totti Sporting Club play in a local league and the former Roma captain has proven he still has what it takes after scoring a screamer in one of their recent matches.
Roma legend Francisco Totti scored a stunning free-kick during an 8-a-side match
Footage of Totti smashing a free-kick with the outside of his foot into the top corner from an almost impossible angle has done the rounds on social media and left fans in no doubt that he is still a class operator.
Totti’s goal – his 13th in 15 games – helped his team, who currently sit sixth in their league, secure a draw to take them to 26 points.
Although it looks like he could still do a job for his former team in Serie A, Totti has other plans for his future.
Having spent 30 years at Roma, making 785 appearances for the club, Totti left in acrimonious circumstances, stepping down from his role as director little over six months ago after accusing James Pallotta and the management team for not involving him enough in the decision-making process.
The former Roma captain hung up his boots in 2017 and now is looking for a scouting role
Asked recently about what he wants to do next, Totti said: ‘I would like to deal with the scouting of young people.’
Whether or not the former Italy international will get the opportunity to fulfil a scouting role remains to be seen.
In the meantime, no doubt he will be continuing to find the back of the net for his team. Some things never change.
